Do Changing Autism Stats Signal a Cure for Autism?

Nope.
Psychiatric doctors are looking into changing the criteria for autism. It won’t cure anything. What it means is people are going to get pushed under the carpet until they get bad enough to fit the new criteria.
Personally, I think it’s just playing with numbers so it looks better, and I think most people who struggle with autism (or their loved ones) would prefer a real cure – rather then downplaying their struggles and problems.
Dr. Carolyn Dean had an interesting post on this and I agree with most of her recommendations for treating autism, but personally I think it needs to be taken a step further – into GAPS. If one group of people should go on GAPS it should definitely be those in the Autistic Spectrum.
What’s your opinion on all of this? I’d love to hear it.

Discover How to Get Your Kids to Eat Broth

This article was requested by Nicolette at Momnivore’s Dilemma. I hope it helps your Nicolette!
It’s been my experience that kids are picky eaters. Actually I should amend that statement, I find that kids who eat processed foods are picky eaters.
Yes, I’m saying that if you feed kids good food  they usually love it.

Of course there will be the usual fussing at the beginning of the change in diet, but if you stick to your new way of cooking and have your family eat good foods kids generally follow along. This does mean that if your a parent you’ll need to eat the new food you’re introducing with the kind of attitude you want your child to achieve.  Just think about it for a second – if you want your child to eat and enjoy vegetables do you eat your veggies with a grimace, extra ketchup, or feed them to the dog?
Kids see how we treat food, and respond accordingly.
So no matter what food you’re introducing please eat it with your kids. Now on to the question. Nicolette has 2 young children (3 and 1), who are absolutely adorable, but they won’t drink broth.
What’s a Mother to do?
I’m going to tell you the best way to get your kids to like broth in this post, and it’s useful no matter what age your child is. So Moms with older children? Keep listening.
When I was first introduced to broth I loved it, but that could be because …

Helped more by Diet than Drugs? Hope for Kids with ADHD

I don’t know about you but every time I see a kid fidgeting, not paying attention, or being overactive I immediately think ADHD. Now I believe that ADHD is over diagnosed so I realize that thought is more of a product of hearing about it in the news than anything else. But new research has come out that can help kids ADHD.

According to the article on NPR.org:
“64 percent of children diagnosed with ADHD are actually experiencing a hypersensitivity to food.”
If you’ve read Gut and Psychology Syndrome™ by Dr. Campbell-McBride or seen it’s cover you would have noticed AHDH. In fact she covers it and how eating a GAPS™ diet can help people with ADHD. So it’s nice to see more research back it up.

What was really interesting was that teachers watched the children for a difference in behavior. Since they’re usually the ones that have to deal with difficult child behavior all day I was curious to hear what they would have to say. But even they were shocked by the difference.
Going so far to say: “After the diet, they were just normal children with normal behavior.”
So for all you Moms helping your kids with AHDH keep on. I’m rooting for you, and believe that the GAPS diet can make a huge difference in your child’s life.
If any of you have a story of helping your child heal from ADHD please share it in the comments. I would love to hear it!
