Tropical Traditions Hair Oil Giveaway and Review 4/17/12

Hi, everybody it’s time for a giveaway. I’ve been testing and trying Tropical Traditions Hair Oil lately. So I’ve got a review and a hair oil giveaway where one lucky winner will receive a bottle of hair oil. Yay!

Best of all it’s open to both the USA and Canada.

I’ve been wanting to try Tropical Traditions Shampoo and Hair Oil and when I got the chance to review the hair oil I also bought their unscented soap bar to try as my shampoo. So I’m actually going to be able to review how they work together on my hair. :)

Disclaimer: Tropical Traditions provided me with a free sample of this product to review, and I was under no obligation to review it if I so chose. Nor was I under any obligation to write a positive review or sponsor a product giveaway in return for the free product.

Well, I need to tell you that I struggle with greasy hair. Very oily hair that feels sticky if it goes to long, but a dry scalp. Go figure. So I’m always worried about trying oil. I tend to stick to Macadamia nut oil on my ends because I don’t usually need anything else oiled.

But Tropical Traditions said that their hair oil shouldn’t leave build up (or an oily feeling on my hair). Basically that I shouldn’t worry it would definitely wash out.

First I tried just putting it on my ends and generally it worked well. Except if I didn’t wash it out my hair could look a little stringy, but since they tell you to wash it out that wasn’t unexpected.

Then I decided to take a giant leap and do a scalp and hair treatment. Talk about major leap of faith here! I’d done a coconut oil scalp treatment before and though it did make my scalp feel really good it took several washes to get the oil out. But I did it, let it sit for about 30 minutes and then washed it out with only the Tropical Traditions soap bar (I skipped my usual white vinegar rinse).

I liked how soft my hair felt, but my hair did it’s usual thing when I’ve tried oil treatments. Pretty up front but an oily dirty look in the back. Yuck. It’s taken me several washes for it to get better, but I’m wondering if it’s the soap bar’s fault. My hair just doesn’t seem to do as well with it so I’ll keep trying the oil.

I love the quality of the oil and I’ve found that it works great on my face! Hopefully I’ll be able to get it to work better for my hair.

My Mom on the other hand has more trouble with frizz and putting one drop in her hand, rubbing her hands together, then lightly gliding her hands over her hair tames those little hairs that stand up.

So my final thought is even though I probably won’t buy the hair oil I really like it for my face, but I think it’s different for each person so enter the giveaway and see if it works for you!

Thank you to Tropical Traditions for letting me try and review their high quality hair oil!
